Meet Dr. Sommer

Dr. Michael Sommer is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with extensive training in advanced surgical and anesthesia procedures.

As a skilled clinician, he is passionate about providing high-quality surgical care to his patients. His clinical focus is on in-office anesthesia, dental implants, bone grafting, extraction of impacted teeth, exposure and bracketing of impacted teeth, and oral pathology.

Dr. Sommer received his Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Richmond graduating magna cum laude. He received his D.D.S. degree from New York University College of Dentistry, graduating with Omicron Kappa Upsilon honors. Dr. Sommer completed his four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, which included training at Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children.

 He is active in local and national dental and surgical organizations. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

 Dr. Sommer resides in the Philadelphia suburbs with his wife, two children, Levi and Margot, and their dachshund, Alfie. Outside the office, he enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and staying active through tennis, which he played competitively in college.
